A Constant Visual Feast

I haven’t had an opportunity to dig into my feelings about KPop Demon Hunters, mostly because I was too slow for my fellow JoySauce colleagues back in June when the film came out, and coverage was all set by the time it occurred to me that, perhaps, I should pitch a piece. Alas. Having watched it a few times*, I can say, with confidence, that my opinion, though subjective, is pretty goshdarn ironclad: I think this is a perfectly okay movie that either needed to be a whole season of TV or 15 minutes longer. The animation and voice acting and music all slap, though.

They also make authorship and ownership sort of a knotted matter, because the characters are performed in speech by one set of actors and in song by another set of actors. Given that the industry is banging pots and pans over the music more so than the acting – though I think the acting is really good – I decided to take the time to spotlight the talent behind the vocals. At last: I have covered KPop Demon Hunters.
