“These Forgotten ’60s Classics Paved the Way for Tarantino”

Okay, I can’t keep up the lie anymore: this is very much not a family friendly blog, even in those instances where I’m writing about, say, Paddington. (Note: this last part is a teaser, folks.)

But wait, hey, before you close that window, let me make the case for smut, which is that even smut has cultural value! Without Russ Meyer, I don’t know that we would have Quentin Tarantino or the market of flesh curated by MTV, though your mileage may vary on whether or not that would be a good thing. All the same, I think the point here is that even the most scandalous and seemingly base material can inspire and shape culture to degrees we can only partially fathom or appreciate.

So I covered the release of Meyers’ Vixen films, over at Cool Material. As ya do.
