I appreciate candor in an interview, both my own and the person’s whom I’m speaking to; my conversation with Miya Folick started out exactly with that exchange between both of us. If the interview didn’t end up wending around to one of the key themes I wanted to discuss with her, it did, at least, move in directions I’m not sure it would’ve without that two-way honesty. So: good on Miya. (And on me, because why not.)
Erotica Veronica is one of my favorite kinds of records, the kind that unfolds and reveals itself more and more with each passing playthrough. Fitting, given that Miya is one of my favorite kinds of people to speak with about their work; and fitting as well given that the record packs heaps of meaning into its confident and economical track list.
