I tried not to flop sweat my way through my conversation with Trang Thanh Tran about her new novel, They Bloom at Night; for one, we were on thin ice what with her having power and connectivity issues on account of, if memory serves, inclement weather, and for another, I had not (and still haven’t) read her first work, She Is a Haunting, and worse than that, had not (but now have!) finished her second, They Bloom at Night, which is the thing I was speaking to her about.
I do not like being in that position! I also do not know how book reviewers do it! Books take so much more time to get through than movies! (But less time than video games. Video game journalists: do you guys ever sleep? Do you subsist on a diet of speed?) But hey: we made it work. I think. It’s kinda her call. But I like the way our conversation turned out.
