If the worst that I can say about a fun, compact horror-comedy romp like Cold Storage is that it boasts a few too many missed opportunities for practical effects work, then I think we’re doing pretty well, aren’t we? Watching Liam Neeson play with, and play around with, his latter-day reputation as a big-screen macho action hero while Joe Keery does his puppy dog thing with Georgina Campbell, a severely underrated horror actors in an ecosystem full of wildly overrated ones, makes for great entertainment in tandem with the film’s goopy gross-out portions. Next time, though? Douse your actors with methylcellulose soup. Be bold.
