A Constant Visual Feast

I don’t know if I expected Amythyst Kiah‘s follow up to her amazing 2021 record, Wary + Strange, to be “cheery,” per se, but I can say with utmost confidence that I did not expect it to be so dire. Still + Bright belies its own title with a slew of tracks occupying a spectrum where the axes are “apocalyptic” and “super bummed out, man.” Look at the names here: “Dead Stars.” “Dark Matter.” “Die Slowly Without Complaint.” “Play God and Destroy the World.” “Let’s See Ourselves Out.”

What Kiah does here, though, is find glimmers of hope buried underneath the harsher images conjured through her lyrics and by the musicianship, which I find remarkable. So, in short: I like it! You can read the full review over at No Depression.
