Andre Ricciardi appears in Andre is an Idiot by Anthony Benna, an official selection of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
It’s true that Eugene Hernandez, Mayor McCheese of the Sundance Film Festival after Tabitha Jackson’s departure in 2022, has opted to decamp the festival from its famous digs of Park City, Utah, to…somewhere else. Boulder, Colorado, perhaps, or even fucking Ohio, which, don’t get me started. I have lots of problems with Hernandez’s approach to directing the fest, particularly given that much of his direction seems to be “abolish all the things Jackson achieved in her tenure.” I don’t really understand the impetus behind moving it.
Be that as it may, I still managed to cover a bit of the fest from here in the New England area, and this is the first piece of several I’ve got under the belt touching on various films that made their way into my eye sockets from January until this past weekend. Good stuff out there! I’m itching to write more about several of ’em! You can probably guess which ones, but I won’t make you; I loveOBEX and Dead Lover. Love, love, love. My kinda weirdo genre cinema.
